IWC Ingenieur Chronograph Racer

Like I already announced last Saturday, when I wrote about the new Ingenieur Automatic, IWC is seriously redesigning their Ingenieur Collection. Today we can show you the Ingenieur Chronograph Racer, that, like the Ingenieur AMG Black Series, results from the cooperation with Mercedes AMG Petronas.

The Ingenieur Chronograph Racer  is powered by the IWC in-house automatic flyback chronograph calibre 89361, that we already know from the Portuguese Yacht Club. The totalizers of this movement’s chronograph are placed in one subdial at the 12 o’clock position and the central seconds hand sweeps along the bezel with an engraved tachymeter scale, true to its name ‘Racer’.

The movement used features a flyback function for instant stop, reset and start measuring time again. It beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph, has 38 jewels and delivers 68 hours of power reserve. It also features a date, which is positioned inside the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock. By the way, this movement is also used in the Big Ingenieur Chronograph. from the current collection.
 
The new Ingenieur Chronograph Racer debuts in four variants, all with the same dimensions as its ‘older’ brother, the Big Ingenieur Chronograph. They measure 45.5 mm in diameter and 15.5 mm in height and the Racer models come in two dial options (brown/grey and white with blue accents) and each two strap options. Choices are for either a stainless steel bracelet or the well known textile strap, that we know from previous Ingenieur models.

  • Ref. IW378507: stainless-steel case, slate-coloured dial, black rubber strap with textile inlay, pin buckle in stainless steel
  • Ref. IW378508: stainless-steel case, slate-coloured dial, stainless-steel bracelet with fine-adjustment clasp
  • Ref. IW378510: stainless-steel case, silver-plated dial, stainless-steel bracelet with fine-adjustment clasp
  • Ref. IW378509: stainless-steel case, silver-plated dial, black rubber strap with textile inlay, pin buckle in stainless steel
