This month all the big brands in the watch industry will show their new creations at the annual fashion in Basel. Among this years novelties there where beauties and beasts of course but in my opinion the beasts outnumbered the beauties.  Rolex gets the honor of releases the most ugly beats this year. The new 44mm large Yachtmaster II features a countdown mechanism on a very busy and ‘loud’ dial. So ugly….

My absolute numer one beauty is a simple divewatch with classic looks. The Longines Legend Diver is a re-issue of a sixties compressor style Longines dive watch. The looks are almost spot on the same as it’s predecessor. This beauty comes in 42mm steel case, on a vintage style synthetic black strap with white stitching. There are two crowns, on for winding and adjusting time and one for operating the inner rotating dive bezel.

Another absolute beauty in my opinion is this Officine Panerai PAM274. I’ve always loved the cussion shaped Radiomir models, but this new Radiomir GMT with 10 days movement is absolutely stunning. The PAM 274 comes in platinum and is limited to 50 pieces. It features the in-house movement P.2003, which is an automatic movement with 3 barrels giving you 10 days of power reserve. Besides time and date, it also has a 24 hour indicator, a second timezone and a 10 days power reserve indicator.

Een paar weken geleden heb ik mijn Rolex Sea-Dweller verkocht. Over een tijdje zal hij wel te koop staan bij Rich Men’s Toys maar het budget voor ons aanstaande dakterras is nu binnen. Maar het doet wel een beetje pijn moet ik zeggen

De Sea-Dweller was in vergelijking tot vrijwel alle andere horloges die ik heb gehad het meest comfortabel om mijn pols. Andere horloges draag ik meestal een aar dagen voordat ze weer in de horlogedoos verdwijnen en er een andere polspendule gedragen wordt. De Rolex heeft een volle maand om mijn pols gezeten zonder verwisseld te worden… en dat is uniek voor mij!
